Bus route to mall will be discussed
Forest Park and Metro meeting Monday

FOREST PARK City officials will meet Monday with Metro about extending bus service to Forest Fair Mall and other businesses along the Winton Road corridor.
Metro runs two routes in Forest Park's residential areas, but neither extends to Forest Fair Mall.
City Economic Development Director Paul Brehm said Wednesday that officials are trying to do something to benefit the community and businesses.
One of the pluses associated with this is the ability to move people through the Winton Road corridor more easily, and to hopefully bring more people into the area, as customers and to work, he said.
Metro spokeswoman Sallie Hilvers said Metro approached the mall's management about building a park-and-ride lot there when it first opened. Mall management was not interested then, she said.
Instead, Metro built its park-and-ride lot along Kemper Meadow Lane, just south of Interstate 275.
The cost of the service and potential ridership are not known.
We are trying to determine what the transportation needs might be, while also looking at reverse commuter issues getting people to jobs in that area, Ms. Hilvers said.
