Missing girl's 10th birthday being marked
The Cincinnati Enquirer
More than four months after a Kettering girl disappeared while walking her dog, supporters are seeking help in celebrating her 10th birthday Tuesday with a Lights on for Erica vigil.
Volunteers at the Erica N. Bak er Recovery Center want motorists to drive with lights on Tuesday and homeowners and apartment dwellers to turn on their outside lights from 3 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The lights symbolize a safe path home for Erica and the more than 3,000 other missing children in Ohio, organizers say. Supporters also want to remind residents that Erica still is missing.
The recovery center, 2286 S. Smithville Road, Dayton, Ohio, will hold an open house at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Details: (937) 254-0242.
Erica disappeared Feb. 7 from her middle-class Dayton suburb. Searchers have drained a pond, combed the woods and nearby neighborhoods, posted fliers and tracked every lead. Police have found no trace of the third-grader.
