MIDDLETOWN A Trenton man was critically wounded early Friday when someone fired a shot through his car window.
Brian Duff, 27, was driving near Baltimore Street and Woodlawn Avenue about 12:30 a.m. when he was hit.
When police arrived, they found Mr. Duff wounded, lying on the ground near his gray 1986 Buick Skylark. The car had crashed into a utility pole in the 1400 block of Woodlawn. And that's all we know, Lt. Don Owens said Friday afternoon.
Officers talked with numerous people in the area, and at the time of this report, could not determine who shot (Mr. Duff) or why he was shot, according to a report filed Friday afternoon.
The bullet struck Mr. Duff in the chin and traveled to his chest, police said.
Mr. Duff was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he was in critical but stable condition in the inten sive care unit.
Mr. Duff's mother, Sue, said her son had some friends in the area where the shooting happened, but family members were not sure whether he was visiting them before the shooting.
She said she had not been able to speak to her son Friday and family members were trying to learn what preceded the shooting.
Ms. Duff said her son was self-employed in constructionwork, and his family members were unaware of any enemies he might have had.
