Family fest adds a day - and a wedding

New Richmond event starts Friday

BY TOM O'NEILL
The Cincinnati Enquirer

NEW RICHMOND — This Clermont County riverside community knows what to do with a good thing: Make it last longer. And throw in a wedding.

Thus, the annual Fourth of July family festival will be a three-day celebration, a day longer than in past years. One of the highlights will be the Saturday afternoon marriage of Joe Nerlinger and Barb Smith at the bandstand.

“Our expanded format will give more people an opportunity to visit New Richmond and enjoy the festival,” said Greg Minor, event chairman.

        Festival hours are 6-11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and noon-10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The festival also will feature a magician, more crafts booths and a range of music, including Sonny Hill and the Night Shift, which won the Greater Cincinnati Blues Soci ety Blues Talent Competition earlier this year.

The third-annual New Richmond Community Recognition Awards will be presented noon Saturday at the bandstand. The recipients will be Jack “Jesse” Burnett, Joe and Ann Graser, Ruben Willis Sr. and Peggy Hale.

A morning parade. Night time fireworks display. Sweeping views of the Ohio River.

Must be the Fourth of July in New Richmond.

All activities are presented by the New Richmond National Bank, Rivertown IGA, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6770, Cinergy, and the New Richmond Business Association.
