• TV picks: American Masters' (9 p.m. Channel 48) piece on Lillian Hellman is a fitting follow to A&E's Dash and Lillie, that premiered in May. After Ms. Hellman's death, a friend summed her up neatly. “She was awful,” he says. “And she was worth it.” This production gives a rich portrait of a complex person. It also reminds us that American Masters is the master of the TV biography.
