Schlosses own Losantiville

BY DAVE SCHUTTE
Enquirer contributor

Immediately after winning the Losantiville Country Club championship Saturday, Brad Schloss pulled out a cellular telephone to make a call.

“I called grandpa (Milton Schloss) from the course to tell him I won,” Schloss said. “After I got home, I called dad (Jim) in Norfolk, Virginia, to let him know.”

Schloss, 27, had good reason to celebrate. By winning the Losantiville championship, he became the third generation Schloss to capture the title, joining his father and grandfather, who combined for 18 club titles.

        Milton Schloss first won the title in 1936 and followed with victories in 1937, '46, '54, '60 while Jim Schloss was a 13-time champion (1965, '66, '69, '70, '71, '73, '74, '75, '77, '82, '84, '92, '93).

“The names of all past club champions are engraved on a plague in The Grill at Losantiville,” Schloss said. “It's been a dream to get my name on the plague with dad and grandpa.”

A resident of Mount Lookout, Schloss defeated Dave Smith 5-and-3 in match play to claim the championship.

“I just returned from Arizona where I spent time working on my game,” Schloss said. “Someday I'd like to play professionally, which is a decision I'll make within the next several months.”

Milton Schloss was one of the original owners of Kahn's Meats, while Jim Schloss was a nationally ranked amateur during the 1960s.
