Fund to honor slain man
Brothers link memorial to high school
BY SHEILA McLAUGHLIN
The Cincinnati Enquirer
While detectives continued to dig for clues that would lead them to Troy Temar's killer, the Deer Park man's brothers set up a memorial fund at his high school.
We haven't decided yet what to use the money for. Either a scholarship or we are thinking of putting it toward something at Deer Park High School for the athletic department, Chris Temar of Miami, Fla., said Wednesday.
That would be an appropriate way to remember his brother, a three-sport athlete, who was captain of the football team in his senior year, and a track star who attended Ohio Wesleyan University on an athletic scholarship.
The 30-year-old contractor, who spent most of his life in Deer Park and Dillonvale, dropped out of college in his junior year for a job and later worked as a construction project manager. Troy Temar started his own company, Team-R Construction Co., in March 1998, state records show.
Chris Temar described his brother as well-liked and ambitious. He wouldn't discuss Troy Temar's professional dealings, saying: For some reason we are supposed to stay away from that.
Other family members have said sheriff's detectives have asked them not to talk about the case.
Warren County Sheriff Tom Ariss said detectives, still unsure of a motive in the Sunday slaying, are looking at every facet of Troy Temar's background as part of the investigation.
Authorities do not have a suspect in the homicide that left Troy Temar shot dead in another brother's burning Mustang in South Lebanon, about 12 hours after he was last seen by relatives.
Firefighters found the body in the trunk about 4:30 a.m. after a motorist reported the fire in the front yard of an abandoned farmhouse on Mason Morrow Millgrove Road.
Meanwhile, Troy Temar's family prepared for his funeral, which will be held Saturdaystarting with visitation at 8:30 a.m. at St. Saviour Church, 4118 Myrtle Ave., Rossmoyne. Mass of Christian burial follows at 10 a.m., with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery.
Other survivors are his parents, Jimmie and Donna, of Dillonvale; a brother, Jimmie II, of Deer Park; a sister, Melissa of Dillonvale; and his grandmother, Frances Lapierre, Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Memorials can be made to the Troy L. Temar Memorial Fund, c/o Ameriana Bank, 7200 Blue Ash Road, Cincinnati45236.
Anyone with information about the homicide can call Detective Ken McCloud at 925-1243.
