Evanston man held police at bay for hours

        An Evanston man who shot and killed his wife Tuesday night and held police at bay for hours turned a gun on himself about 4:30 this morning, police said.

        The standoff ended with Stephanie Harris dead and Doug Harris in critical condition at University Hospital.

        Cincinnati Police SWAT team members surrounded the residence in the 1900 block of Clarion Avenue about 8:25 p.m., after a man identified as Harris fired several shots during a domestic dispute.

        Harris was holed up on the second floor of the multifamily dwelling as SWAT members talked to him by telephone.
