Three sentenced in possession of stolen weapons traffic case
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Three people were sentenced Thursday on charges of possessing 26 stolen guns when police stopped them in April for a routine traffic violation.
Prosecutors said they intended to trade the guns for crack cocaine in Over-the-Rhine. They were:
Mary Beth O'Hair, 18, of Salt Lick, Ky., sentenced to 14 months in jail.
Earl Stephens, 21, of Salt Lick, sentenced to seven years in jail.
Bobby Wells, 27, of Flemingsburg, Ky., sentenced to five years in jail.
Each was credited Thursday with serving 85 days, and they remain at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
A fourth person, Jerome Stanford, is charged with one count of having weapons while under disability, which means a prior offense made it illegal for him to carry a weapon. The 34-year-old Mount Auburn man is serving five years' probation.
All four were indicted by a Hamilton County grand jury in May. All except Mr. Stanford face charges of receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon. Prosecutors say the guns were discovered after police stopped a car driven by Ms. O'Hair on April 23.
