Pastor 'stable' after malignancy is removed

Father Jim Willig, the pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Reading, remained in stable condition Wednesday night at Bethesda North Hospital, one day after doctors removed a cancerous tumor from beside his kidney.
Up to the final minutes of his nearly four-hour surgery, Father Willig's parishioners prayed continuously for him.
The surgery was successful, church officials say, but Father Willig still has cancer on his right lung. All other organs were free of cancer. Father Willig's family asks that well-wishers not visit him in the hospital while he is recuperating. Send prayers and good wishes for Father Willig to 417 W. Vine St., Cincinnati 45215.
“Please continue to pray not just for Father Jim, but for all those who are suffering,” parish volunteer Rose Lindeman said.
