Local boxer cruises in Pan Am opener

The Associated Press

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Bantamweight Gerald Tucker of Cincinnati easily moved into the second round of the boxing competition at the Pan American Games Saturday.

Tucker romped to a 24-4 win over Cesar Morales of Mexico.

Tucker forced a standing-8 count in the first round and then eased to the victory.

“I had so many butterflies before this bout, and then to top things off, I was the first bout,” he said. “I just felt I had to continue what was started.”

Another Cincinnati fighter, Ron Siler, lost to Cuba's Maikros Romero in light flyweight.
