STAYING IN
        • Critic's picks: Tonight's must-see is Just Shoot Me (8 p.m., Channel 5). Occasionally, this show really is as good as NBC claims it is. This is one of those times. Maya is dating a puppeteer, played by French Stewart of 3rd Rock From the Sun. He seems terribly normal on the surface ... then vents their relationship on the air, via his puppets.

        • Other choices tonight include two Disney Channel offerings: The Little Mermaid (7 p.m.) and The Thirteenth Year (8:25 p.m.).

        • Online: The well-known Dr. Dean Ornish discusses proper diets and other health topics 10 p.m. today on AOL Live.

        • Video picks: Shakespeare in Love, the Oscar-winning megahit starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes is finally available today on both video and DVD.

        • Also out today: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, a wild and wooly British farce about a gang of dimwits trying to rip off a crime lord.

        • For kids: Just in time for back to school, Redman Haircare is releasing Aussie Land, a line of hair products especially for kids. Six products ($2.99 each), including conditioners, gels and detanglers, have scents such as Blueberry Muffin, Grape Bubblegum and Candy Apple.
