Hispanic Chamber time line

        Time line of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cincinnati:

        • February 1996: The Tristate Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is founded.

        • October 1996: Leo Calderon becomes president.

        • June 1997: Chamber has 15 individual members, one corporate member, and 100 on mailing list.

        • October 1997: Randy Chavez becomes president.

        • June 1998: Chamber expands to 25 individual members, two corporate members, and 200 on mailing list.

        • October 1998: Roberto Peraza becomes president.

        • December 1998: Tri-State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce changes its name to Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cincinnati.

        • May 1999: Chamber creates Web site and expands types of membership and committees.

        • June 1999: U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President George Herrera visits. Chamber becomes tax-exempt, allowing the group to keep all donations and membership fees.

        • July 1999: Chamber receives three $650 checks for platinum membership from Procter & Gamble, Kroger and Federated Department Stores. Group now has 55 individual members, 10 corporate members and 300 on mailing list.

        • August 1999: First bimonthly newsletter is published. .

        • September 1999: Networking meeting of the Hispanic chamber. It will be open to the public.
