HAMILTON A 19-year-old Springdale man who admitted to police that he shot a Middletown man during a robbery was sentenced Monday to 18 years in prison.
Noel Richardson pleaded guilty to attempted murder, aggravated robbery, carrying a loaded concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm into a place where people live.
He could have received a maximum prison sentence of 32 years. He was sentenced by Judge Patricia Oney of Butler County Common Pleas Court.
On Jan. 18, police said Mr. Richardson shot Frank Holdbrook Sr., 40, in the chest while he and his alleged accomplice, Roy A. Clark, 25, of South Lebanon, robbed the man's house in Middletown.
Police said Mr. Clark led police on a chase, firing at them out the car window. Mr. Clark continued shooting as he ran from his car into woods in Union Township. Police found him hiding in a tree.
Mr. Clark is charged with aggravated burglary, resisting arrest and eluding police. He is scheduled to stand trial or enter a plea on Sept. 13 before Judge Oney.
