Woman's body found in old shed

Neighbors, officials unsure of her identity

BY MICHAEL D. CLARK
The Cincinnati Enquirer

OXFORD TOWNSHIP — While they await crime lab results, police investigators are asking Tristaters to help them identify a young woman found dead in a shed behind an abandoned farmhouse.

Butler County sheriff's investigators said Monday that the woman's body was discovered Sunday behind an empty farmhouse at 5907 Todd Road in Oxford Township, just north of the Oxford city limits.

Sheriff's department spokesman Brad Kraemer said a person strolling around the property discovered the body.

Mr. Kraemer would not discuss whether the woman — identified as white, with shoulder-length dark hair, thin build and 16-25 years of age — died at the Todd Road location, or elsewhere and her body hidden there. He also declined to say what might have caused her death.

“Right now, we are just trying to identify her,” Mr. Kraemer said. The body was found in blue jean shorts and a blue and white, thin-striped, spaghetti-strap top.

He added that she was wearing three rings. One was a ruby possibly in a diamond setting. Another was a solitaire with silver setting and the third a gold, heart-shaped ring.

He said any assistance in identifying her would be appreciated.

Neighbors along the rural Todd Road community also would appreciate learning as soon as possible the identity of the dead woman.

“We're being cautious,” said neighbor Schunk Morris, who lives down the road from the abandoned two-story farmhouse, which has stood in disrepair for some time. “This is not something that happens everyday around here.”

He said no one has lived in the farmhouse for 18 months and the property has been for sale for some time.

Anyone with information about the homicide should contact the sheriff's office at 887-3010.
