Men plead not guilty in murder, child-porn cases

BY SAUNDRA AMRHEIN
The Cincinnati Enquirer

LEBANON — A man suspected of being a killer and another of being a child pornographer each pleaded not guilty during their arraignments Friday in Warren County Common Pleas Court.

Andrew Beckman was charged with aggravated murder this month in the July 25 death of 19-year-old Brandy Southworth.

Mr. Beckman, a 21-year-old unemployed construction worker, is accused of stabbing Miss Southworth, the mother of his 6-month-old son, at the home where the woman and child were staying temporarily with friends in Morrow.

Mr. Beckman, of Harlan Township, remains jailed on $1 million bail, Warren County Prosecutor Tim Oliver said.

Also Friday, Timothy O'Conner pleaded not guilty to child-pornography charges.

Mr. O'Conner, 54, of Middletown, was indicted this month after a computer repairman said he found pornographic images on Mr. O'Conner's computer.

He faces 21 charges: seven counts each of pandering obscenity involving a minor, pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

The images found on his computer depict seven children ages 7 to 10 engaged in sex acts, Warren County authorities said.
