Warren to fight Deerfield over water, sewer plan

LEBANON — Warren County and Deerfield Township are headed to court after county officials refused Tuesday to drop objections to the township's plans to create a water and sewer district.
A two-day hearing on the township's petition to form the district begins at 9 a.m. Thursday before Warren County Common Pleas Court Judge Neal B. Bronson.
The township wants to provide water and sewer services to 53 subdivided lots on Black Raven Farm in the northwest part of the township. The county originally turned down a chance to do so because commissioners did not realize more than a handful of people would be served and thought the project was too expensive.
The township doesn't intend to stop at Black Raven Farm. A township water and sewer district would give the township an incentive to keep property owners from annexing into Mason when the county can't or won't provide the services.
The district could offer sewer and water service to property owners in other townships, too.
Despite an offer Tuesday from the township to give the county the first chance to offer services over the district, commissioners called the plan unnecessary and confusing.
