Smog alert issued for today and Saturday

A smog alert has been declared today and Saturday. Sarah Brugger, spokeswoman for the Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services, issued the caution after forecasters predicted temperatures at least in the high 80s with few breezes or clouds and no rain.

Another factor is expected heavy holiday traffic.

Temperatures are expected to fall Sunday and reduce the likelihood of baking auto exhausts and other pollutants into smog.
