Apartment building fire leaves families homeless
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Fire swept through a Fairfield apartment building Saturday night, heavily damaging more than half a dozen units and leaving several families homeless.
Neighbors in the Cobblestone Grove Apartments noticed the blaze just before 7 p.m. and went door to door in the 100 block of Westwood Drive warning others.
A column of smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles.
Somebody was pressing on the door buzzer. I opened the door and looked down the stairs and somebody yelled, "Get out! Your place is on fire! It's going up!' said Mike Brant, who lives in the apartment building.
All the occupants apparently got out safely. No injuries were reported.
Damages and a possible cause were not available.
Firefighters were still on the scene late Saturday night.
