The Greater Catholic League South Division and everyone else.
That's how the coaches voting in the Enquirer's first Division I football poll assess Greater Cincinnati teams after two weeks of the 1999 season.
Undefeated Moeller, ranked No.10 in the USA Today Super25 Poll, holds down the No.1 spot with Elder taking over No.2 followed by St. Xavier, Colerain and Sycamore.
Defending Division II state champion Lebanon is a solid No.1 in the Division II-III-IV-V-VI poll followed by four other undefeated teams: Badin, Wyoming, McNicholas and Mariemont.
Unranked in the preseason Division I poll, Sycamore has been the biggest surprise. The Aviators opened with a victory over Mason and then beat LaSalle.
We're pleased with the way the offense is performing, but the defense is young, coach Tom Adams said. We graduated eight from the defense and only have two seniors.
Mariemont is the surprise team in the small-school poll.
The Warriors are now 2-0 after surprising Columbus Bishop Harley Friday in Columbus.
Teams from the Cincinnati Hills League were outstanding in non-conference games, compiling a 15-1 record.
