Stadium project shy of minorities goal
With more than $270 million in contracts awarded for the new Bengals stadium, more than $30 million in work has gone to businesses owned by women or minorities.
The new Hamilton County figures, which include contracts awarded through August, show the 11 percent share of work going to minority- and women-owned firms has stayed steady.
But the figure still is short of the county's goal of awarding 15 percent of the stadium work to firms owned by minorities or women.
County officials don't expect to meet that goal for the $404 million Paul Brown Stadium project, which is scheduled for completion in August 2000.
The same goal applies to the new $299 million riverfront Reds ballpark, which still being designed and is scheduled to be finished in 2003.
