Biomedical group seeks life for center
        A state-of-the-art drug-research center sits vacant in Reading: nine buildings, 142 individual lab rooms, 54 animal rooms, a six-room primate suite, a four-room surgery suite, an electron microscope area and numerous offices, conference rooms and libraries.

Campaigns court affluent seniors
        The U.S. Census Bureau predicts that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million Americans older than 65 — about one-fifth of the population.

Convergys settles lawsuit against Alltel
        Convergys Corp. and Alltel Corp., the Little Rock, Ark.-based telecommunications company, Tuesday said they've settled their almost year-old, multimillion-dollar contract dispute.

N. American, Allied move toward merger
        FORT WAYNE, Ind. — North American Van Lines Inc. plans to merge with Allied Van Lines in a $450 million deal that will create the world's largest moving company.

        NEW YORK — A commission made up of government and business representatives that is studying how to tax purchases over the Internet could hit some heavy public opposition, judging from a survey released on the first day of the group's meeting in New York.
