Staying in
TV picks: Stone Phillips updates an award-winning Dateline NBC investigation into food poisoning caused by month-old eggs being repackaged and redated as if they were fresh (8 p.m., Channels 5, 22).
And if you're looking for a late-night alternative to Jay Leno or David Letterman, TV Critic John Kiesewetter suggests you check out the new BET Tonight late-night show with host Cedric the Entertainer (10 p.m., BET).
What's in stores today
Disc pick: John, Paul, George and Ringo make a round trip as Yellow Submarine (Capitol; $17.98 CD; $10.98 cassette) returns to stores this week in a new version that adds songs and deletes the score, making the disc more a true Beatles album than movie soundtrack.
Movie out, too: The restored Yellow Submarine movie is out on video and DVD. The DVD version includes digital Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, just like the theatrical version, plus bonus material about the making of the movie.
More disc picks: John Prine duets with a crowd of country music women, notably Iris DeMent, on In Spite of Ourselves (Oh Boy; $15.98 CD; $9.98 cassette). The lovingly hilarious title song, the sole Prine original, is worth the price, says Enquirer music critic Larry Nager.
Queensryche delivers millennial hard rock on Q2K (Atlantic; $17.98 CD; $10.98 cassette).
Fresh from Monday's BarrelHouse show, spacegrass band Leftover Salmon gets down to earth on The Nashville Sessions (Hollywood; $16.98 CD; no cassette) with pals including Del and Ronnie McCoury, Lucinda Williams and Bela Fleck.
Eve delivers her hip-hop solo debut First Lady of Ruff Ryders (Interscope/Ruffhouse; $17.98 CD; $11.98 cassette) with guests Missy Elliott and DMX.
Planning ahead
