Blast may have started Clermont fire
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A Clermont County home burned for about three hours Monday after an apparent propane gas explosion. No one was injured in the blaze, which destroyed the home.
The Monroe Township Fire Department responded to 2354 Franklin-Laurel Road about 2:25 p.m. after neighbors called to report an explosion and structure fire.
Fifteen firefighters from Monroe Township, along with several members of the New Richmond, Pierce Township and Washington Township fire departments, were on the scene.
It was a rough fire, said Jeff Lanham, Monroe Township fire chief. It appears to be a propane leak somewhere. You'll have gas pockets in the house and you'll have one fire put out and another one starts up.
Firefighters finally controlled the blaze between 5 and 5:30 p.m., he said.
Chief Lanham declined to release the names of the homeowners because one was out-of-town. The other was staying with relatives Monday night.
