Ex-guard jeered by family of victim
Offender free pending appeal

LEBANON Sentenced to six months in the county jail for coercing teen-age inmates to expose their breasts, Timothy Million Jr. left the courtroom to temporary freedom Thursday amid jeers from a victim's family.
I hope you rot in jail! the step-father of one of the girls called after Mr. Million.
Mr. Million, who was fired as a corrections officer at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center in January in the midst of an investigation into sexual misconduct by guards, was given until noon todayto file an appeal or begin serving the jail term.
Judge P. Daniel Fedders of Warren County Common Pleas Court also placed the 31-year-old Middletown man on probation for two years, restricting Mr. Million's access to children and requiring attendance in a program for sex offenders.
Obviously what is appropriate here is punishment, and you are in need of supervision, the judge told Mr. Million, who was silent throughout the hearing.
The hearing came a month after a jury convicted Mr. Million of two charges of contributing to the delinquency of a child, involving two teen-age female inmates at the detention center.
The same jury acquitted Mr. Million of sexual battery charges, saying they did not believe a 15-year-old girl's account that she had sex with Mr. Million in a holding cell last year. The girl and her mother have filed a $2 million civil lawsuit in federal court against Mr. Million and county officials.
Thursday, the mother of one of the victims who exposed herself called Mr. Million a predator of children and a violator of people.
Mr. Million took advantage of her daughter's fragile psychological state, the woman said. The girl, then 16, was placed in juvenile detention on a probation violation.
Timothy Million preyed on that vulnerability. He kept her on an emotional roller coaster ... for his own personal gain and sexual satisfaction, she said.
Mr. Million could have received a year in prison. Assistant Prosecutor Keith Anderson said he was satisfied.
I would have preferred he served the whole sentence. But probation is important because of the supervision that it affords, Mr. Anderson said.
Had Mr. Million been sentenced to the maximum term, the court would have no control over him after his release.
Defense lawyer Frank Schiavone said he didn't think Mr. Million should have been convicted. He said a notice of appeal would be filed before noon today that would allow Mr. Million to remain free in the meantime.
