A guide to help make your day

        • Home tours: Home tours are today in Price Hill and Wyoming:

        • Walk through 15 homes built 1907-1940 and St. Teresa of Avila Church. Tour the four-block area on Omena Place, Glenway Avenue and Joana Place, 1:30-6 p.m., and the church, 2-4 p.m. Tickets $7 at church and 1119 Omena Place. 684-4104.

        • Reds vs. Cardinals: It's Fan Appreciation Day today at Cinergy Field. Game time 1:15 p.m. Prizes will be given to lucky ticket-holders. Tickets: 421-7337.

        • Last chance: Several special fall events close today:

        • The Cincinnati Art Club's Annual Fall Show, 2-5 p.m. at Wessel Gallery, Mount Adams. 241-4591.

        • An Autumn Celebration, sponsored by Cinergy and produced by the Cincinnati Horticulture Society, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Coney Island. $8; $3 children 3-12, children under 3 free. 872-5194; (800) 670-6808.

STAYING IN
        • TV picks: Tough choice today at 8 p.m., but TV Critic John Kiesewetter will be watching The Simpsons' hilarious season premiere, when Homer helps Mel Gibson edit his movie after watching a preview that was “more boring than church” (Channels 19, 45). Other options include NBC's new Third Watch, CBS' Touched by an Angel or WB's Felicity revealing whom she spent the summer with, Ben or Noel.

        • VCR alert: Cincinnati TV historians should set the VCR for the Nick Clooney Interviews (3 p.m., Channel 9) with WCPO-TV veterans Mort Watters, Al Schottelkotte, Jack Moran, Dottie Mack and Al and Wanda Lewis. And Hasker Nelson's final Black Memo airs 7 a.m. today (Channel 9).

THE GOODS
(What's in stores today)

        • Movie memories: Do you wander aimlessly through video store aisles trying to remember the names of those movies on your must-see list? A new movie-a-day calendar ($9.95) from the American Film Institute can help. Available in bookstores, the compact desk calendar features the 100 best American films chosen in the famous AFI poll of 1997, plus enough film noir, screwball comedies and cult favorites to satisfy almost any celluloid appetite. The calendar includes a bonus: directions on how to download a digital version for your computer.

PLANNING AHEAD
        • 48 hours out: Tuesday, 7 Mary 3 plays an 8 p.m. show at Bogart's, Corryville. $12. 562-4949.

        • 72 hours 'til Wednesday: Opera star Sarah Brightman performs downtown at the Aronoff Center, 7:30 p.m. $50, $37.50. 241-7469.

        • One week away: Next Sunday is the Fifth Annual Heritage Celebration at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. With Cincinnati Zoo animals, music, Civil War encampment, pick-a-pumpkin hayrides and more, noon-4 p.m. 681-6680.
