Tip led police to abduction suspect

BY JANICE MORSE
The Cincinnati Enquirer

HAMILTON — An alert citizen's tip led to the arrest of a man suspected of trying to abduct teen girls, police say.

Jason Robert Adriana, 25, is to appear in Hamilton Municipal Court today on two counts of abduction.

The charges stem from two incidents in which 14-year-old girls reported that a man grabbed them and tried to make them get into his dark green car, said Sgt. Thomas E. Kilgour, Hamilton police spokesman.

The first incident occurred in mid-July at Grand Boulevard and Parrish Avenue but it was not reported until Sept. 7. The other incident occurred Aug. 31 in the 1200 block of Kahn Avenue.

        Both girls escaped.

Mr. Adriana was being held in the Butler County Jail on Wednesday after his arrest at Hamilton police headquarters.

Police found him after a resident read newspaper articles about the incidents and called police with a possible identity of the suspect, who was described in the articles, Sgt. Kilgour said.

The warnings were publicized two weeks ago, Sgt. Kilgour said. Detective John Marcum and Sgt. Jim Malone worked to find the suspect, Sgt. Kilgour said.

The suspect was described as 35 to 40 years old, stocky and bald — a description that Sgt. Kilgour says fits Mr. Adriana.

Mr. Adriana's last known address was in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue in Hamilton.

Police are reviewing other incidents to see whether he might be a suspect, Sgt. Kilgour said.
