Flights give bird's-eye view of Butler Co.

The Cincinnati Enquirer

HAMILTON — If you've ever wanted to catch a bird's-eye view of the massive development in eastern Butler County or the rolling farmland in the west, Sunday is your chance.

The Butler Soil & Water Conservation District will be offering plane rides over the county from the Hamilton-Fairfield Airport. The flights will follow western and eastern routes. The cost is $15 per person, and three can ride in a plane.

The eastern route will take in Union and Liberty townships, Monroe, Middletown and Trenton. It will show the Union Centre interchange, the Butler Regional Highway, AK Steel, the former Voice of America site, the Great Miami River and the commercial development along Union Centre and Interstate 75, said David Carter, program administrator for the conservation district.

The western route will include Oxford, Millville and the agricultural centers of Hanover, Morgan and Reily townships. Miami University, Hueston Woods, U.S. 27 and urban development in Hamilton will be highlighted.

Both flights, which will last 20-25 minutes, will end up over Hamilton.

The flights will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. To reserve a time, call 887-3720.
