Hall one off state golf lead
COLUMBUS, Ohio - With 18 holes remaining in the Division I state boys golf tournament, Winton Woods' Kevin Hall is just one stroke off the lead after shooting a 76 Friday on the Ohio State University Scarlet course.
Hall is in a three-way tie with Kent Roosevelt's Justin Miller and Dublin Coffman's Bret Bandow. All three trail the leader, Adam Fluty of Westerville North.
Last year's runner-up, Bobby Castor of Ashland, is two strokes back at 77.
The course played so hard today, Winton Woods coach Tim Tilton said. The wind was severe.
Hall overcame the unfavorable conditions to keep his recent hot streak going. He won the Hadley Memorial tournament last Saturday, Wednesday he won the sectional, and he won the district a day later.
Tomorrow he has to keep his concentration in what is probably going to be another bad weather day, Tilton said.
The forecast has rain likely with possible snow flurries later in the day. Hall tees off at 9:18a.m. today.
In Division III action, Summit Country Day is in 10th place, 28 strokes behind the leader, Gahanna Columbus Academy.
First-round results from the boys Division I and III tournaments, played Friday at Ohio State University. The Division I tournament was at the par-72, 7,104-yard Scarlet Course and the Division III tournament was at the par-70, 6.020-yard Gray Course:
