Busy goalie sets AHL mark

        LEXINGTON, Ky. — Cincinnati Mighty Ducks rookie goalie Gregg Naumenko stopped 53 shots, including an AHL record 25 shots in the second period, in a 4-4 tie with the Kentucky Thoroughblades Friday night at Rupp Arena.

        Cincinnati built a 4-2 lead midway through the third period on goals by Darry Laplante, B.J. Young, Torrey DiRoberto and Jeremy Stevenson.

        The Mid-Atlantic Division-leading Thoroughblades (6-3-1-0) rallied back to tie the score on goals 1:28 apart in the third period by Eric Landry (13:51) and Matt Bradley (15:19) to send the game into overtime.

        “Kentucky is an exceptional team and (Rupp Arena) is a hard place for a visiting team to earn points,” Naumenko said.
