St. Ursula wins sectional volleyball title

The Cincinnati Enquirer

The St. Ursula volleyball team won the lower bracket of the Division I sectional tournament at Sycamore High School on Saturday with a 15-5, 15-11 victory over Mercy.

St. Ursula will play in the district tournament this week.

“I'm very happy with how we played in tonight's game,” St. Ursula coach Julie Perry said. “We had great court coverage and blocked well against a good Mercy team.”

St. Ursula, which moved to Division I this year, has won the past six Division II state titles.

“It's the same pressure every year in the tournament, and you just want to win,” Perry said.

In the other Division I games, Seton beat Turpin, marking the second straight year that a Girls Greater Cincinnati League school has eliminated Turpin from the tournament.

Boys soccer
Nat Dyment, Josh Miller, Micheal Zoller and Shawn Galvin each scored in the shootout period to give McNicholas a 4-3 win over Anderson in Division I.

The game was 0-0 at the end of regulation. Joe DiSalvio made 15 saves and blocked two shots in the shootout for the Rockets.
