Thompson, Orr head Hall of Fame class




        Former Withrow High and NBA stars Louis Orr and LaSalle Thompson headline the fourth annual class of inductees for the Greater Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame.

        The banquet is today at the Syndicate restaurant in Newport. A dinner-and-cocktail (7 p.m.) ticket is $90 per person; dinner only (8 p.m.) is $65. Tickets are available at the door.

        The guest speakers will be University of Cincinnati basketball coach Bob Huggins, former Xavier radio voice Andy MacWilliams and former Dayton coach Don Donoher.

        The other 10 inductees are:

        Xavier coach Skip Prosser, former UC and XU coach Tay Baker, former UD and Cincinnati Royals player Arlan Bucky Bockhorn, Elder and Michigan star Steve Grote, former LaSalle and UC star Dick Haucke, and former Williamstown (Ky.) High and Ohio State star Arnie Risen, a member of the NBA Hall of Fame.

        Also: former Washington University star George Spencer, who played for the Houston Mavericks of the ABA; former Cincinnati Royals and Detroit Pistons head coach Charlie Wolf; Northern Kentucky University coach Nancy Winstel and Buddy LaRosa, who will be honored for his support of basketball.
