Five sets of twins born at Good Sam
Call the Doublemint gum people. Good Samaritan Hospital the Tristate's biggest maternity service set a hospital record Friday when it delivered five sets of twins in the space of 12 hours, said spokesman Jeff Blunt.
It's been busy, but the babies are doing great so there's lots of smiling moms, dads, nurses and doctors running around here today, said Kim Pickens, manager of Good Samaritan's Mother Baby unit.
It is rare to have more than two sets in one day, even at Good Samaritan, where nearly 5,000 babies are born each year. Two years ago, three sets of triplets were born in one day at the hospital.
The suddenly larger families are: Judith and Douglas Janka of Cincinnati, who had a boy and a girl; Hana and Anwar Basher of Mason, who had a boy and a girl; Patti and Robert Jump of Cincinnati, who had a boy and a girl; Elizabeth and David Jennings of Harrison, who had boys; and Tashaun and Carlton Embry of Cincinnati, who had boys.
