Boyfriend accused of slaying

Man says he killed Covington woman

BY SUSAN VELA
The Cincinnati Enquirer

A 33-year-old Cincinnati man was being held at Hamilton County Justice Center Sunday evening, after telling police he killed a 20-year-old Covington woman in her home earlier in the day.

Todd A. Hummons, who now faces a murder charge, provided a taped statement that he killed Tiffany Hall, 20, around 5 a.m., said Covington Police detectives Marty Epperson and Bud Vallandingham.

Mr. Hummons had been living with Ms. Hall and her 1-year-old son for several months in the City Heights housing project.

He had arrived at his mother's residence, 4900 Oakdale Ave., Sunday morning. He told relatives of the killing and they called Cincinnati Police, who heard Mr. Hummons' statement upon arrival.

He was arrested at 9:15 a.m., almost an hour after Covington police found Ms. Hall dead on the second floor of her home. Mr. Hummons spoke with Covington detectives later in the day.

Detectives did not release a motive or cause of death on Sunday.

Ms. Hall's neighbors said the couple had argued for hours.

Sunday afternoon, a light was on and a fan ran in a second-floor window of her home.

One woman said Mr. Hummons often visited a nearby store that she works at and called him nice, polite and talkative. He often liked to talk about Ms. Hall's 1-year-old boy, she said.

“They just kept to themselves,” she said.

“They were very quiet,” another said. “You never heard or seen them often at all.”

An autopsy will take place today.

A Cincinnati Police arrest report indicates that Mr. Hummons had pending cases involving charges of domestic violence and failure to control his vehicle.
