Local Red Cross sends workers
BY KEVIN ALDRIDGE
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has sent two disaster workers to help the families of the victims of Egypt Air Flight 990. Gary Miller, director of disaster services for the Cincinnati Red Cross, was dispatched to Rhode Island Sunday.
Mr. Miller, part of a trained Aviation Incident Response Team, is directing Red Cross efforts to provide mental health service to the families of the victims.
Disaster volunteer Carol Theler, a 22-year Red Cross veteran, is leaving today to serve as a mass care specialist during the three-week assignment.
As a disaster worker, you always hate to hear about these kinds of tragedies, said Mrs. Theler. But this is what we are trained to do and this is something that has to be done. I do this because I get back more than I give.
