Holiday rush: Now that the holiday season has been moved up from Thanksgiving to Halloween, the record companies are already getting busy.
Go Simpsonic With the Simpsons (Rhino; $16.98 CD, $10.98 cassette) is the second collection of original songs from the longest-running animated series in TV history.
King of the Hill soundtrack (Elektra; $17.98 CD, $11.98 cassette) features a batch of tracks by country acts (Mavericks, Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt) and a few rockers (Barenaked Ladies, Sheryl Crow).
Mariah Carey's Rainbow (Columbia; $17.98 CD; $11.98 cassette) is the week's big pop release, stealing some luster from the solo debut of Spice Girl Melanie C. (Sporty Spice), Northern Star (Virgin; $16.98 CD; $11.98 cassette).
Jewel releases her Christmas album, Joy A Holiday Celebration (Atlantic; $17.98 CD; $10.98 cassette).
