CovCath (4-6) at Harrison Co. (7-3)

Today's N.Ky. playoff matchup

        • WHEN: 7:30 p.m. today

        • WHERE: Harrison County High School, 550 Webster Ave., Cynthiana

        • WHAT TO WATCH: Covington Catholic needs to win three playoff games to avoid its first losing season since going 5-6 in 1980. But its record is only a cosmetic issue: CovCath is seventh in the Litkenhous AAA ratings and as capable of a long playoff run as nearly anyone.

“I tell the kids the record doesn't matter,” coach Lynn Ray said. “There's five games left in the season.”

Ray says this is one of the toughest first-round foes he can remember facing. The Thorobreds are riding a five-game winning streak and have the home-field advantage.

CovCath needs senior QB Brett Dietz (1,691 yards, 10 TDs) to be on target tonight.

        • PICK: Covington Catholic
