Mason (8-2) vs. Centerville (10-0)


Today's playoff matchup

        • When: 7:30 p.m. today

        • Where: Centerville Stadium, 500 E. Franklin St., Centerville.

        • Tickets: $5

        • Regular Season: Teams didn't meet and had no common opponents.

        • Playoff History: Mason will be making a third appearance, the previous two in Division II where it had a 1-2 record.

        Centerville is making a sixth appearance. The Elks reached the state championship game in 1991, losing to St. Ignatius. They are 4-5 in the playoffs.

        • Credentials: Centerville won the Western Ohio League championship and finished No.1 in the Dayton Daily News weekly coaches poll. Mason lost the first two games but won eight in a row to claim the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division title.

        • Key Players: Mason: Quarterback Adam Livingston (109-of-181 completions for 1,603 yards). Tailback Danny Little (596 yards rushing in five games).

        Centerville: Quarterback Ryan Hawk (67-for-106 completions for 1,320 yards and 527 yards rushing on 63 carries) is one of many weapons. Also, tailback Ray Huston has rushed for 1,369 yards (142 carries) and scored 18 touchdowns.

        • Key Statistics: Mason averages 26.4 points and allows 11.2 with Centerville averaging 52.5 points while giving up 12.

        • If Mason wins: It would be the upset of the year in Ohio.

        • If Centerville wins: It will likely set up a meeting with Elder, the first since 1991 when the Elks beat the undefeated Panthers in the first round of the playoffs.
