New Richmond (8-2) vs. London (10-0)
Today's playoff matchup
When: 7:30 p.m. today
Where: London High School, 336 Elm St., London.
Tickets: $5
Regular Season: These schools have never played in football but had one common opponent Hillsboro. London downed the Indians 48-0 with New Richmond winning 35-6.
Playoff History: This will be London's fifth appearance but the Red Raiders' first since 1995. New Richmond is one of six Division III teams making a first appearance.
Credentials: London features a wide-open offense that averages nearly 45 points a game while New Richmond prefers keeping the ball on the ground while relying on the defense to keep it close.
Key Players: New Richmond: Junior quarterback Adam Armbruster has scored 80 points while rushing for 1,033 yards on 155 yards.
Key Statistics: London's defense is tough against the run, allowing fewer than 75 yards a game. If New Richmond is forced to throw the ball, it could turn into a long evening for the Lions.
If New Richmond wins: It would be the biggest victory in veteran coach Ron Bird's 30 years at the school where he is 184-109-5.
If London wins: The Red Raiders will be favored to challenge Columbus Bishop Watterson and Poland Seminary for the state title.
