The Cincinnati Enquirer
Mike Trotta, a custom tailor, died Thursday at St. Margaret Hall in O'Bryonville after a long illness. The Anderson Township resident was 85.
His daughter, Carol Trotta of Anderson Township, said customers at his downtown Cincinnati shop included entertainers such as singer Perry Como and bandleader Guy Lombardo, and baseball players Ernie Lombardi, Waite Hoyt and Hank Aaron.
Tailoring was in Mr. Trotta's blood. His father, mother and two brothers were expert tailors. A lifelong Cincinnati-area resident, he practiced his trade for more than 70 years. The tradition lives on in his son and daughter, who are still active in the business he his wife, Ann, founded more than 50 years ago.
Mr. Trotta served in the Army in Europe during World War II.
He was a past president of the Custom Tailor and Designers Association of America, and was a member of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
His daughter said: His hobby was gardening; his passion tailoring; his love was his family.
Other survivors include his son Michael Trotta Jr. of Anderson Township; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Louis Church, 29 E. Eighth St., downtown.
