Driver arrested after car chase, 2 accidents

A motorist fleeing police in Over-the-Rhine on Sunday ran several stop signs and caused two multicar crashes before running into a police cruiser and being arrested in Corryville, police said.

Vincent Elliott, 48, of the 1500 block of Meredith Drive, Springfield Township, was charged with DUI, fleeing and eluding, reckless operation and not having a driver's license.

Police said an officer saw the suspect run a stop sign at 200 E. Clifton Ave. at 6:37 p.m. The man then drove west on East Clifton Avenue, going left of center before stopping, police said.

The driver waited until the officer approached the car and then took off going north on Vine Street, police said. He ran a stoplight at Vine and McMillan Avenue, causing a three-car crash; then ran a red light at William Howard Taft Road and Vine, where he caused a two-car crash. He ran into a police cruiser in the 2500 block of Jefferson Avenue, where he was arrested, police said.

        No serious injuries were reported.
