TRISTATE MARKET SPOTLIGHT

Manager's pick boosts Omnicare

Shares of Omnicare Inc. gained $2, or 17.6 percent, to close Monday at $13.37 1/2.

Monday's issue of Barron's quoted a health care hedge fund manager saying Omnicare, a provider of nursing home pharmacy services, was among his favorite picks because he thinks about 30 percent of all U.S. nursing home patients get their drugs from Omnicare's institutional pharmacies.

Covington-based Omnicare rose 20 percent Thursday as Congress and the White House agreed to a deal that would increase Medicare payments $12 billion.
