Mason students may attend funeral

The Cincinnati Enquirer

MASON — School will be in session at Mason High School today, but students who want to attend the funeral of two classmates killed Wednesday in an automobile crash will be allowed to attend if they bring a note from their parents.

The school district will provide a shuttle bus service for students attending the funeral, Mason City Schools Superintendent Dr. Kevin Bright said Sunday.

Jordan Walker, 16, and Troy Mullikin, 15, were killed when their car struck a utility pole about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on McClure Road in Turtlecreek Township.

A funeral for the two students will be 11 a.m. today at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 4934 Western Row, Mason.

Kris Cathcart, 17, was injured in the crash, and remained hospitalized in fair condition Sunday at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

If students arrive at school without a permission note from their parents and decide they want to attend the funeral, school officials will call their parents for permission, Dr. Bright said.
