Tarrie Monroe scored a game-high 21 points and Lewis held Northern Kentucky to 30.3 percent shooting in the second half as the Flyers defeated NKU 75-68 in their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Thursday at Romeoville, Ill.
Monroe led a cast of four double-digit scorers for Lewis (4-0, 1-0), which led just 32-31 at halftime before hitting 52 percent from the field after intermission.
Kevin Listerman scored 12 points for NKU (4-1, 0-1), which outrebounded Lewis 43-21 but committed 17 turnovers and made just six of 19 3-point attempts in the game.
