Social Security applicants charged

5 allegedly used false information

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Five people have been charged with Social Security fraud after trying to obtain Social Security cards with allegedly false information.

Authorities arrested a woman and four men Thursday as they applied for the cards in the John Weld Peck Federal Building.

They were identified as: Khoudia Diop, 22; Lancine Camara, 38; Mamadou Balde, 38; Dalla Konte, 23; and Lancine Conde, 32. All reside in the same West End apartment in the 800 block of Clark Street, officials said.

Representatives from the FBI, the U.S Immigration and Naturalization Service, and the Social Security Administration are taking part in the investigation, said FBI spokeswoman Tracey Heinlein.

The five were turned over to INS, but Ms. Heinlein could not say whether their citizenship was also in question.

An INS spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

The five will appear for a bond hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jack Sherman Jr. on Tuesday.

They have been detained in the Hamilton County Justice Center.
