Holmes' rally falls short

        Antoine Beatty hit a 3-pointer, his only basket of the game, with five minutes left to put Lafayette ahead for good and earn a 70-64 win over Holmes Tuesday night.

        Holmes recovered from a 13-point halftime deficit to tie the game at the end of the third quarter.

        • Covington Latin 71, Clark Montessori 65 (OT), at Clark Montessori — The Trojans sank seven of eight free throws in overtime, four by Kiley O'Connell, to pull out the victory.

        Cameron Settles sent the game into overtime for Clark with a 10-foot jumper at the buzzer.

        The victory was Covington Latin's first victory in two years and broke a 26-game losing streaks.

        Jamison finished with a double-double (15 points and 15 rebounds), while Michael Quinn sank seven of nine free throws in the fourth quarter, enabling Lloyd to hold off a late Ludlow rally.

        Junior Adam Henry led Ludlow with 12 points.

        Campbell broke open the game in the second quarter, outscoring Pendleton County 24-8. Senior guard Joey Allen led Pendleton County with 12 points.

        • Covington Catholic 62, Moeller 55, OT, at Covington Catholic — Ryan Hamby's layup was Moeller's only bucket in overtime, as the team shot 1-of-8 in the extra frame. CovCath shot 2-for-2 from the field and 7-for-16 from the line in overtime.

        Matt Sylvester hit a 15-footer with a second left in regulation to force overtime.

        Senior Dan Hinkel led the 20-point fourth-quarter effort by Badin, scoring eight points. Senior Nick Bosken scored 10 of his 16 in third quarter and Rob Niehaus grabbed seven rebounds.

        • Calvary Christian 76, New Richmond 57, at Calvary — Gabe Watson scored 12 of his 24 points in the first quarter, fueling a 26-7 outburst for Calvary Christian.

        Calvary used full-court pressure to hurt New Richmond early. Then senior point guard Nick Tepe knocked them out with long-range shooting, hitting five 3-pointers on his way to 29 points. Jamie Cherivel scored 14 points to lead New Richmond.
