COVINGTON Two Covington firefighters rescued a man from his burning house Wednesday after a neighbor called 911.
Covington Fire Capt. Charles Wheatley said a two-man crew found an unconscious Gary Beagle, 54, slumped in the corner of a back room. He had been sleeping, woke up and saw he couldn't get out the front door, fire officials said.
Firefighters contained the fire at 609 Edgecliff to the front living room. It caused about $1,000 worth of damage.
Lt. Thomas Feeback and firefighter Anthony Axle of the Covington Fire Department rescued Mr. Beagle.
Capt. Wheatley said the official cause of the fire has not been determined, but that it was probably electrical.
Mr. Beagle was in good condition Wednesday night at St. Elizabeth Hospital North.
