Officer charged with striking man in dispute

        A rookie Cincinnati police officer was indicted Monday on charges of assaulting a man at the Have A Nice Day Cafe on Main Street.

        Ryan Wesseling, 24, of Anderson Township, faces up to six months in jail if he is convicted of the misdemeanor assault charge. He is accused of striking Dan Worley of Franklin, Ohio, during an argument Nov. 25.

        Officials said the fight left Mr. Worley with an inchlong cut on his head. Mr. Wesseling, who joined the police division in January, was assigned to desk duty after the incident.
