Man gets 15 years in Covington bank heist
The Cincinnati Enquirer
COVINGTON Donald Evans was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to 15 years in federal prison for his involvement in a February bank robbery that led to an exchange of gunfire with a Covington police officer.
He had pleaded guilty to several charges, including conspiracy, armed bank robbery and possessing firearms during a crime of violence.
Two other men, Antonio Jordan of Bond Hill and Duane Finnell of Covington, have pleaded guilty to similar charges. They still must be sentenced.
A fourth man, Roddrick Blackwell of Covington, was acquitted after a three-day trial.
Court documents and court testimony had alleged that Mr. Blackwell, driving a stolen car, dropped the others off near the Fifth Third Bank at Sixth Street and Madison Avenue on the morning of Feb. 3.
The other three entered the bank brandishing guns and had a teller help them fill a flowered pillowcase with money. They fled on foot.
Gunfire was exchanged on a downtown Covington street when an officer tried to stop them. Officer Mike McGuffey was not hurt.
