New Year's Evening dress
Four readers share their ideas on looking good as they ring in 2000

Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve?
According to surveys, about two-thirds of us will be curled up on the sofa at home with loved ones watching Dick Clark and that giant ball drop on Times Square.
It seems millennium mania, which hyped everything from pricey soirees to luxurious trips to exotic locales, didn't inspire quite as many folks as anticipated to get wild, funky or loose.
Today, an expanded Real Style column, which each Tuesday highlights Tristate residents with fashion flair, offers a peek at the looks three local people will showcase for this once-in-a-century event.
Bob George, 43 of Kenwood, 911 communications officer for Hamilton County
Where will you spend New Year's Eve?: At the Hamilton Communication Center, working. My shift starts at 9:45 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m. the next day.
You'll be wearing: My uniform, of course.
How much planning went into this ensemble?: None. I've known I had to work since September.
Tell us about how you're accessorizing your uniform: I'm using this Need-A-Date for NYE. sign that I made. I get to bring someone to work with me that night, so I'm looking for a date.
Nicolette Folley, 18, of Green Hills, a fashion design major at the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning.
Where will you spend New Year's Eve?: At somebody's party, but I'm not sure where that will be yet. But I know I will be partying.
You'll be wearing: A lot of white and silver, which includes a flapper-like dress with an asymmetrical hemline, a feather boa and a pair of big butterfly wings strapped to my back. Nothing's new, but the wings. The rest is stuff I've thrown together. I'm calling myself the Millennium Fairy. I always celebrate big events dressed with a theme.
How much planning went into this ensemble?: About two months. That's when I decided on the fairy theme and started gathering props, accessories and pieces for my wings. I keep adding to the wings so there will probably be more stuff on them by New Year's Eve. I'm also in the process of looking for the perfect tiara to wear on my head.
You were going for a look that: Is glamorous and eye catching. What can be more eye-catching than wings?
Jeannette Jackson, 30, of Clifton, junior accountant.
Where will you spend New Year's Eve?: At the WIZF (radio station) Millennium 2000 Celebration at the (Albert B. Sabin) Convention Center with a date. I plan to go to church first, though.
For the party you'll be wearing: A new black tube dress with a beaded tank dress over the top that I got from Spotlight on Main Street and black (microfiber) pumps.
You were going for a look that: Says ooh-la-la! But, seriously, I just want to look really sharp and have fun.
How do you party like it's 1999?: Have a good time, cut loose, but with the hope that the lights and power stay on.
Mike Weber, 26, of Monfort Heights, a student at Northern Kentucky University.
Where will you spend New Year's Eve?: Hanging out with friends downtown at bars and clubs.
What will you be wearing?: I'm going for comfort with Banana Republic (corduroy pants) and a shirt. I want to look casual, but clean cut.
Festive accessories may include: Stuff left over from previous parties and Jimmy Buffet concerts a top hat and Hawaiian leis.
What do you think about all the people staying home New Year's Eve out of fear of Y2K mayhem? That's their choice, but I'm getting out. I live by the motto A bad day at the beach is always better than a good day at work.
